LITHUANIAN TRANSLATIONS

Lithuanian is the official state language of Lithuania and is recognized as one of the official languages of the European Union. There are about 2.9 million native Lithuanian speakers in Lithuania and about 200,000 abroad. Lithuanian is a Baltic language, related to Latvian. It is written in a Latin alphabet.

Lithuanian belongs to the Baltic branch of the Indo-European language family. It is one of two living Baltic languages with an official status (the other being Latvian). The Lithuanian and Latvian languages have retained many features of the nominal morphology of the proto-language, though in matters of phonology and verbal morphology they show many innovations, with Latvian being considerably more innovative than Lithuanian. Lithuanian is often said to be the most conservative living Indo-European language.
